the laugh

This video is kind of dark, but we got a couple good laughs out of Lantz!

waterfront park

We went to Waterfront Park in Louisville after passing it a few times and thinking it looked awesome. It is a huge park(about 14 acres) along the edge of the river. It has numerous playgrounds, amphitheaters, picnic areas and a big splash park. The splash park was a relief on a 90+ degree day. We had a great time!
Makelle and her new friend. We have no idea who this kid is, only that Makelle saw him and decided that she wanted to stand really close to him!

the petting zoo

This week we went to the Huber Petting Zoo with Janice and her family. The kids loved all of the different animals, as long as they stayed behind the fence! I know the sign says orchard and winery, but there really was a petty zoo!
Zak and Makelle loved the bunnies and the baby Shetland pony.

While the kids were trying to feed the baby sheep, the mom kept sticking its head through the fence and scaring them. Ashley tried to block the kids, and this happened (obviously Lindsey writing). I made her stay there for a picture.
One of Zak's very favorite things was the baby cow. He wouldn't feed it out of his hand, but he liked to stick food into it's trough and watch it eat.
There were tons of goats to feed and pet

Makelle "trip trapping" over a different bridge!
The two craziest goats in the place, plus varied other crazy animals.
Lantz sat in his stroller, sucked his thumb, and was (as usual) a very good boy!
Makelle was more interested in the non-animal attractions
There were also pedal carts to ride, and a few big slides for everyone to go on.

Makelle walking back alone, she changed her mind once she got up there!

There was a little mining stream where the kids could find and sift rocks. Makelle would have been perfectly content to play in the water all day long!

Makelle and Andrew

Makelle is obsessed (to say the least) with her cousin Andrew. She thinks he is the funniest, most awesome person ever. Since he has been at our house, she has followed him around, sat by him at dinner, played with him outside, and just loved him. After dinner last night she followed him around for a good three minutes telling him that she finished all her food. She only gave him some peace when he finally told her "good job". Makelle calls him "Funny Andrew" and is so happy that he came for a visit!

bring in the rain

We have had some very crazy weather for the last few weeks. Today it has been very wet with incredible thunder and lightening. The wind also blows like crazy. It blew the sandbox lid from the back yard into the street in front, then blew the whole box into the mud puddles next door. Lindsey had to sprint to catch them and was completely soaked after only about 10 seconds outside!

The clouds were crazy...

...and very quickly moving!

The kids were very worried about their swing set and teeter totter outside, but they made it through okay.

cute, cute, cute

silly girl

Makelle's cousins sent her some new pool toys. Her favorite? The goggles! She wanted to wear them forever, even when she couldn't see out of them!

Party Animals?

While I went to the temple, Lindsey and the kids had a party with cushion forts, popcorn, candy, and Mary Poppins. They loved Andrew the dog (it's all in the name) and Uncle Albert (because he's so funny). Makelle even asked if Uncle Albert could come to church with us!

After Makelle broke her fort on the floor, they made a new one on the couch, and after Zak saw Makelle's fort on the couch, he broke his on the floor!

a sunny day (they seem so rare)

We finally got to get out the pool that Grandma and Grandpa sent with us now that the grass is growing. All of the days feel hot here, but the sunny days seem few and far between.

Makelle doing her trick (sticking her head in the freezing water).
Zak got tired of getting told to pull up his shorts, so he really pulled them up!
