Zak turned 6

Zak has been counting down for his birthday for months. His grandma and grandpa came earlier to visit so they wouldn't be here so he wanted to have a friend party. He wanted a carnival party again and he had it all planned out. We invited everyone only to cancel the day of the party because Makelle had woken up early throwing up. It wasn't quite the Birthday he had planned but what do you do?! It started at 4 with his sister throwing up on his bed. Then he opened a few presents from us since Dad would be leaving for school soon. He got to have a birthday celebration at school. He got to tell something about each year of his life, then they sang and he passed out a cookie to each kid. He made his own poster for school with pictures from his life. That afternoon all three of my kids took a nap, (I guess I should wake everyone up at 4 if I want them to nap). One of Zak's friends showed up for the party, I had forgotten to call them and cancel. Imagine how terrible I felt, especially since they live pretty far away. They came in and played and it made Zak's day. We were able to end on a good note playing with him and sharing a pizza party with them!! Most of Zak's presents from family came in the mail the next day and he was able to enjoy them and then a party later in the week. It lasted all week long. What a lucky boy! We did all the traditional carnival games. Bobbing for apples, knock the juice box over, ball toss, doughnuts on a string, an otter pop walk, face painting, penny toss, and candle squirting! We ended with hotdogs and cake and ice cream. Zak decorated his entire cake by himself and we were all very impressed with it. Then they jumped on the tramp and played red rover. It was a great time. He loved playing with friends and getting presents!

SPRING

After lots of tornado warnings and tons of flooding, the weather was finally nice again. We took advantage on Saturday and went to a state park to go hiking. The weather was perfect and it was beautiful. With all of the warmth and rain everything got green and it is such a pretty time of the year. We had a fantastic day enjoying each other, the sunshine, and all the pretty things around us. It was a great hike and the kids did well, mostly they loved to stop and play in the water!

Easter

Here's the kids with their eggs! Easter was fantastic!!! I always think it is going to be so hard to be away from my family for Easter but we seem to enjoy ourselves. We started the day with a baptism at our new church building. Then we had a picnic and egg hunt with lots of friends from our branch. It was perfect.
