This week was John's spring break! We were so excited to have him home for the whole week! Monday he went to school to get ahead on a few things and then spent the evening with us. On Tuesday we got out of the house long enough to go to an egg hunt at the mall which was fun. We got the kids loaded in the car and life got crazy. Zak was crying like crazy because his ear hurt and both him and Makelle had fevers! Let's just say it has been a LONG week! But John can't say he didn't get to spend time with the kids! This is what it looked like most of the week!
So far Lantz has fared well! We got to enjoy some of the sunny weather together while the others were inside watching movies! Apparently Zak has had a double ear infection for three weeks now and Makelle has strep! We had to take Zak back into the Dr. this week after his first antibiotic didn't work. For a couple of weeks now he hasn't been listening good or he acts like he can't hear. I have been giving him a hard time, but then it started to get really bad. John noticed it too so we tried holding a hand in front of our mouths to see if he could hear us talking. He couldn't! We put both Makelle and Lantz in a room with the door shut with them yelling and playing. Zak stood by the door and said it sounded like they were both asleep! Scary--But the Dr. says the ear infection is still there and that is what is causing it so we hope it will get better. I feel bad I have been getting mad at him for the last few weeks and it isn't his fault! John and I laugh because it feels like we are talking to an old deaf person because we have to yell right next to him and we still have to do it several times!
We did have good moments when the Tylenol was working and we tried to make the most of it. When Makelle was sick Zak and I built towers with marshmallows and toothpicks. Then John made a volcano out of salt dough and we all got to watch it erupt!
I love this little girl's smile!
Lantz is so proud to get himself up on the little chairs all by himself.
John gave Lantz another hair cut last week isn't so grown up!!
Yesterday was a beautiful day and so in the afternoon when the medicine was working and the kids were having a good moment we got out of the house. We finally got to go to the park and it was wonderful! We all needed it and we had a great time there. Lantz loved being able to play in the rocks and finally I just let him eat them!
They were so tasty!
Zak was appalled that I would just sit there and let Lantz eat rocks. Don't I know that he could choke. Yes, I do, but it just wasn't worth the fight anymore. He would do it just because I would say no, the little stink. He would always spit them out after he tasted them so go for it Bud!
Makelle LOVES her Dad. She is so happy when he is around. She never wanted me to cuddle her or hold her or watch a movie. JUST DAD! It was the same for the swing!
I wasn't doing the spider good enough, (because I had Lantz and Zak) so Zak had to have a turn with Dad too!
Makelle was showing off her rock cakes with stick candles!
Makelle has been fascinated with ballerinas lately. She gets books from the library about ballerinas and then she tries to do their moves. On this day she was wearing anything pink and ballerina she could find and Zak doesn't like being left out!
I think this was the longest gap in blog updating history! Life was boring and then it was crazy so not much to update for a while. Now there is lots to update!
Zak-Is learning all of his letters and their sounds! He figures most of them out himself and can choose his own words and tell me what they start with! It is so exciting! He is very good at coloring, drawing and writing words. He also got accepted to the Montessori in New Albany so now we really need to be making a decision about Kindergarten! He knows the first three articles of faith and is anxious to bear his testimony by saying the articles of faith!!!
Makelle-Is in love with her Sunbeam teacher. She idolizes the women and tries to do her hair and nails just like her! She also knows the first article of faith. She is very good at ballerina tricks and she can teach them to you too! She loves her daddy, shoes, clothes, makeup and nail polish. No change in that part of the update.
Lantz-can walk he just doesn't. The little stink will go about four or six steps then smile and get on his knees! He loves to go outside and he loves elephants. He is learning all of the animal sounds and parts of his body. He loves to kiss Zak and Makelle when they are sick, he really puckers up! He loves candy and he loves to play hide and seek!
Me-I have been taking a parenting class ( I know it is much needed and a little late)! My kids are awesome but I know I have much to improve if I expect to have them be the best they can be. You will be glad to know I am working on the yelling, bossiness, and empathy. I have the tough love part down good but the nice stuff I really need to work on! Wish me luck! I am also going to Institute when I don't have other meetings and I am loving it. It is such an underutilized program and I am glad to be able to take advantage most weeks. I also helped to start a Bunko group and I love having a fun night out!! I just got a job babysitting a 15 month old boy three days a week. We know it is an answer to our prayers. John has been looking for a graveyard job but this will work out great. It's not a lot but it is just what we need and we can still have family time together. The lord truly is mindful of us. Thanks Jodie for recommending us! To all my friends reading this I still get to have play dates so don't think we are off limits! What is one more kids when you already have three! I also officially consented to go to Girls camp in June. It is a week long, anyone want to come visit and babysit???? Oh, and I can't forget to mention that for the first time in my life I have exercised six days a week for 9 weeks now!!! I am so going to win the Utah contest. I haven't gotten any results yet, but I haven't missed a day! (Sorry my personal update was so long but it is my blog so I can do what I want and I know at least my family cares!!)
John-Is still doing great in school and loving it most days! He just got called as Second Counselor in our branch. It was unexpected but he will do great. It will be exciting to see him in this leadership position. It is very much out of his comfort zone and in very unknown territory. I am grateful that he is worthy and willing to accept the call. I know many blessing will be ahead and I am excited for what those blessings will bring into our life. (One so far, a job for me!) No need to worry anyone we will still be going to Utah in July!!
Today Zak was doing tons better so after we got some Tylenol in Makelle we headed to the zoo. The kids have wanted to go all week but they were miserable. We went for a couple of hours and had a great time. The sun has been shining all weekend and I love it. I am so excited for spring and to play outside. It is so beautiful and fun here in the spring and summer. So bring on SPRING!!! WE ARE READY!!
In a nutshell life is great! We are happy, healthy (most of the time), and have everything we need. Life really can't get any better than that!

Look how amazing you are! Your family was so sick and you still wanted to take care of mine! How can you get any better? Not possible! I'm excited that spring is almost here too! I'm glad you all were able to enjoy the day! I'm happy that the babysitting worked out, but I'm secretly sad that karter's favorite people in the whole world will have a full house! Miss you all and hope you will still want to hang out with us again!
