the fourth of july

The fourth of July was a two day event for us this year. After being afraid that there wouldn't be any fireworks anywhere, we found that they were everywhere! On the third we went to Waterfront Park. They had a concert, and big blow up toys and a craft booth for the kids , not to mention the great playgrounds they already have. There was also some of the best people watching I have ever experienced! We all had a great time.
Just playing and dancing while we waited for the fireworks
Enjoying the firework show!
For the fourth, we went to the Sellersburg parade in the rain. The parade was very small and we just parked on a side street and opened up the back of the car. It was perfect. The people in the parade talked to the kids and threw lots of candy to just them. It was awesome!
Some of our favorite things in the parade.
This was a hillbilly truck. It had the biggest underpants we have ever seen!
Makelle loved the bubble truck!
The faces say it all, Zak and Makelle loved the parade!
Because of the rain, we did sparklers in the garage. After John tried everything to light them without matches, we borrowed a lighter from the Graves and had a great time!
Zak was a pro, Makelle was a little more hesitant, but got the hang of it after a little bit.
Ice cream!
Makelle loves to wear these glasses with no lenses. She's a nut. Also this night she finished off the mint chocolate chip ice cream, and knowing that it is my favorite she kept saying, "Linds you want mint ice cream?" I would answer yes of course and she would smile and say "Oh, all gone". What a little tease!

  2. Maybe we can have our own traditions next year and join you in on the fun! It was much better than our 4th. The kids are so cute and expressive! I love it!
